Record subgroup for the ALPLM Manuscripts Department for collections and vertical files. Small collections include personal and family papers, corporate records, county records, and military records. Vertical files include small collections of unknown or varied provenance used predominantly as ready reference files, documenting Illinois counties and cities, individuals, businesses, organizations, and events.

Scope and Contents Collection includes a letter of introduction for Morris Birkbeck addressed to Richard Rush, March 13, 1817; a letter to Caesar Augustus Rodney concerning a census of Alabama, November 1, 1822; and a letter to James Brown concerning diplomatic relations with Spain, South America, and France, May 28, 1825.

Scope and Contents A 1797 memoriam to William Orr, an Irishman who died "on the altar of English tyranny". Three letters, 1821-1822, from Edward Copland in New York and Philadelphia discuss politics and news of the day. Lengthy discussion of the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia and its handling.
