Record subgroup for the ALPLM Manuscripts Department for collections and vertical files. Small collections include personal and family papers, corporate records, county records, and military records. Vertical files include small collections of unknown or varied provenance used predominantly as ready reference files, documenting Illinois counties and cities, individuals, businesses, organizations, and events.

Scope and Contents An 1861 speech given by James at the Warren County July 4th celebration. Diary kept by James, Aug.-Sept., 1862 with lengthy entries discussing each days experiences.
