Record subgroup for the ALPLM Manuscripts Department for collections and vertical files. Small collections include personal and family papers, corporate records, county records, and military records. Vertical files include small collections of unknown or varied provenance used predominantly as ready reference files, documenting Illinois counties and cities, individuals, businesses, organizations, and events.

Collection — Box 2
Scope and Contents Consists of four handwritten arithmetic exercise books or cyphering books from various authors and locations, including: George W. Allen, dating to 1812-1814, brought to Greene County, Illinois, from Tennessee in 1818; Samuel Smith, dating to 1817-1820 (probably a fragment of a larger volume); and two books dating to 1819-1821 belonging to Richard Wells, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and Edmund Palmer. The Wells book contains instruction in basic store accounting.

Scope and Contents Family correspondence, much of it between Edward and Martha Williams, Elizabeth's parents and Robert and Elizabeth. Discusses family news, politics, farm business, acquaintances and in a few letters a family member who joined the Mormon Church. Letters from B.F to Travis discuss family and life in Texas.
