Record subgroup for the ALPLM Manuscripts Department for collections and vertical files. Small collections include personal and family papers, corporate records, county records, and military records. Vertical files include small collections of unknown or varied provenance used predominantly as ready reference files, documenting Illinois counties and cities, individuals, businesses, organizations, and events.

Scope and Contents Two letters, 1881, discuss the railroad and family business. The remaining letters 1895-1900, refer to the sinking of a coal mine in Farmington and politics. Several letters from John Moorehead of the Madison Coal Company of which the last spells out the requirements of the land to sink the mine. Several letters from James M.
