Record subgroup for the ALPLM Manuscripts Department for collections and vertical files. Small collections include personal and family papers, corporate records, county records, and military records. Vertical files include small collections of unknown or varied provenance used predominantly as ready reference files, documenting Illinois counties and cities, individuals, businesses, organizations, and events.

Scope and Contents Includes orders, official letters, disciplinary charges against several soldiers, specifically charges against Mihalotzy for "Disobedience of Orders", "did quarter himself in the home of I.W. Douse in Athens Ala." and "molestation in their person and property". Includes his response to these charges and a summary of the findings of the court. Two notes from J.B. Turchin regarding troop movements. Topographical maps of Becherd and Tullahoma, Tenn.

Scope and Contents Letters of Samuel, William and Emma from March 1861-June 1865. Samuel and William write of camp life and William writes a detailed letter of the battle where his brother died and his death. He writes from Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and of Forrest's guerrillas, and his experience as a clerk in the General Court Martial in Columbus, Ky. in 1864.
