Record subgroup for the ALPLM Manuscripts Department for collections and vertical files. Small collections include personal and family papers, corporate records, county records, and military records. Vertical files include small collections of unknown or varied provenance used predominantly as ready reference files, documenting Illinois counties and cities, individuals, businesses, organizations, and events.

Scope and Contents Collection consists of two unpublished manuscripts by James Affleck (1813-1902): "The Stewart and Bennett Duel" about a Belleville, Illinois duel in 1819; and "Governor John Reynolds", a biographical sketch.

Scope and Contents Signed letter, March 1845, to W.L.D. Ewing, auditor of the state, telling him he will do what he can for Campbell, asking for more scrip and praising the actions of the legislature. This was written below a note to Ewing from Samuel Reed ordering scrip. Signed letter, Aug. 1845, to A.B. Sherriff in Millersburg regarding legal matters, property. Signed document, Feb. 1854, certifying Samuel H. Treat to have been Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court when he signed a document (attached)...
