Record subgroup for the ALPLM Manuscripts Department for collections and vertical files. Small collections include personal and family papers, corporate records, county records, and military records. Vertical files include small collections of unknown or varied provenance used predominantly as ready reference files, documenting Illinois counties and cities, individuals, businesses, organizations, and events.

Scope and Contents Handwritten copy of Montebello, Hancock County, Illinois order for an increase in property tax to raise a bounty for soldiers. Agreed to give $300.00 to anyone joining the army to fight the war. Copied for publication by the town clerk, D.W. Harris.

Scope and Contents Sheriff's book of tax money received for six months prior to Dec. 1827. 14 pages. An act to provide for the erection of a county court house and jail, undated. 1 page. Roll of men from Morgan County mustering into the Army for 3 years, approved and signed by Colonel Pitcairn Morrison, 8th U.S. Infantry.
