Includes a few official letters most regarding appointing or removing people, orders and reports. Includes a report on the Battle of Thompson's Hills, a report on the Meridian expedition, a report on the Jackson, Mississippi expedition, a report on raids in Mississippi, Sept 21-Oct. 11, 1864. Four letters from Reuben B. Hatch regarding the signing of receipts, with one response from Miller expressing consternation at Hatch's letter. One letter gives insight into the character of Captain A.C. Fisk after his appointment as Collector at Vicksburg.
