Biographical / Historical
Sailor Springs, Illinois was founded in an area with natural hot springs and in 1878 the waters were opened up to the public and hotels and health spas were built to accommodate those seeking the springs believed healing qualities. Over the years the spa business shrank and the Development and Improvement Company was founded to help the town grow. Dr. A.M. Sparling was the president of the organization, 1918-1941.
