Biographical / Historical
Resident of Hoyleton, Illinois who leased land to the Missouri-Illinois Railroad for the building of a switch or spur track between Noltings and Hoyleton, Illinois. The resulting station was named Sparta and was used not only by the people of the area but for transferring large orders from the Sparta Limestone Quarries.
