Biographical / Historical

The firm was operated by John B. Jolly (1824-1909), alongside Lewis Mayo (1840-1911), and possibly Lewis's father Walter L. Mayo (1810-1878). Jolly was also part owner of a saw mill and owned land in southern Illinois. Lewis Mayo was a soldier with the 87th Illinois Infantry and stayed with that regiment from 1862 to 1864, when he was discharged due to injury.
