Anna Risse Papers

 Collection
Identifier: MS-BC760

Scope and Contents

The Risse collection consists of several letters and greeting cards written to and from Mrs. Anna Risse. These letters were written between the years of 1930 and 1980. Some of the letters have specifically to do with Illinois Adlai Stevenson’s presidential campaign, many containing pamphlets and information about Stevenson for potential voters. Many of the greeting cards in the collection were sent to Mrs. Risse by William Blair, United States Ambassador to Denmark and the Philippines, and Governor Adlai Stevenson II, for whom Risse worked as secretary. Also contained in the collection are several newspaper clippings on various topics that Risse saved throughout the years. Several of the newspaper clippings are about Governor Stevenson and his presidential campaign. All letters and newspaper clippings were separated by subject, whether by who sent the letters or by the subject of the letters or newspaper clippings. Finally, the Risse collection also contains several photographs of Mrs. Risse with several members of Governor Stevenson’s staff as well as Ambassador Blair. These photographs were transferred to the ALPLM’s Audio-Visual department.
