Biographical / Historical

Othman A. Abbott (1842-1935)and his family moved to a DeKalb County, IL farm in 1846. During the American Civil War he enlisted in the 9th Illinois Cavalry serving from 1861-1865 and reaching the rank of Second Lieutenant. After the war he became a lawyer at Belvidere, IL (1867) and subequently moved to Nebraska where he entered politics.
