Consists of one patent for a grant of 120 acres issued to Pleasant Armstrong by the United States or service during the Black Hawk War. It was endorsed by Delila Armstrong, widow, Petersburg, Illinois, February 4, 1860. Also, one undated appraisal of a white and brown steer, taken up by Robert Armstrong. Signed by Pleasant Armstrong and Obadiah Short.

Biographical / Historical
Pleasant Armstrong (1798-1854) was an early resident of Sangamon (later Menard) County. During the Black Hawk War he served as a private in Captain Abraham Lincoln's militia company.
