Scope and Contents

Louis Aubert was a member of the French High Commission to the United States, a diplomatic delegation to foster the alliance between the two nations after the United States entered the First World War in 1917.

Consists of one letter written by Aubert from Paris to Jessie Palmer Weber of the Illinois State Historical Library in 1921. Aubert thanks Weber for sending a report of the Illinois Centennial Commission and recalls when he addressed the Illinois Centennial Celebration in 1918. During his visit to Springfield during the centennial celebration he noted much anxiety about the war in Europe.
