Moses G. Atwood (1805-1869) was born in New Hampshire and subsequently moved to Alton, Illinois, where he was a businessman and city official.
Consists of one letter written by Atwood to Moody Kent wherein he discusses Abraham Lincoln and the possible secession of the southern states. Atwood did not believe the union would be dissolved.
