Scope and Contents Consists of birth, death and marriage records stemming from the marriage (1790) of Mary Fleiger Backenstoe (d. 1845) and John Backenstoe (d. 1820). The pages were removed from the Bible of Mary A. D. King who received it as a gift from her aunt Mary L. Moreland. Included in the listing of births and deaths are those of Mahale (b. 1830), an enslaved person of color, and her two children Virginia Terese Moreland (1848-1857) and Lloyd Hebert Moreland (1852-1856).
