Abstract
The Rogers Family were early settlers of the town of Athens in Menard County, Illinois, and became prominent citizens of the community. Matthew Rogers came from New York in 1821 with his wife and children. He was postmaster of the town's first post office, and served as justice of the peace. He loaned books from his personal library to a young Abraham Lincoln, who would later become his lawyer.
