Letter to his daughter(Miss A.E.C. Shaw) in Portland discusses spending the evening at Governor Duncan's and Mrs. Duncan's suggestion that the recipient would like to teach in a "private family" and how they would like to have her for their own children. Describes the family and tells her what information to include in a letter to the Duncan's if she is interested. Mentions family sickness. Ink drawing of "Mr. Shaw's residence at Locust Grove."
