Scope and Contents Notice to the sheriff of Gallatin County, Illinois Territory from the Court of Shawneetown to hold James Cain, if found in their "bailiwick" having been found guilty of not paying debts to Adam Rankin. Written and signed by Street the Clerk of Gallatin County Circuit Court. Note by S.M Hubbard, for Ephraim Hubbard, Sheriff, stating bond secured by Michael Jones "has been taken for payment of the money".

Scope and Contents Papers regarding court case brought against Ebon C. Ingersoll by Green B. Raum, the drainage commissioner of Saline County who accused Ingersoll of not paying for the land. Includes indenture, notice of foreclosure, summons for Ebon and Robert, and a statement by Robert Ingersoll. Sheriff John Boyer signed that he had served the summons. Ingersoll lost the land.

Sangamon Co., Ill. Coroner's Jury verdict

Scope and Contents Copy of the verdict by the jury found that although the injuries might "have accelerated his decease" they did not believe that the wounds were sufficient "in themselves to have produced the catastrophe in a person of sound health." Dated with the names of the jurymen.

Sangamon County, Illinois Circuit Court bill of complaint

Scope and Contents Bill of complaint for John S. Roberts against Reuben Radford for payment for "divers goods wares and merchandise" that were "sold and delivered...at his request" and with the "promise to pay". He did not pay. Murray McConnel and James McDougall were the lawyers for the plaintiff.

Sangamon County, Illinois Circuit Court, Gray vs. Gray transcript

Scope and Contents Transcript of record of case made before Judge David Davis listing several adulterous relationships by Franklin Gray prior to his leaving for California, subpoenas sent, interrogations made, proof of publication announcing the bill of chancery against Franklin, and petition for divorce. J.C. Conkling acted as Mrs. Gray's lawyer. James H. Matheny, Clerk of the Court, attested and signed the transcript.
