Gallus Ruegg diary and account book

Scope and Contents Gallus Ruegg (c. 1845-1914) was a bookkeeper who immigrated to the United States from Switzerland in 1869. Ruegg lived in Butschwil, Switzerland before he came to Hoboken, New Jersey in August 1869. He moved to Chicago, Illinois in September of the same year, where he was joined by his brother Paul. Abstract The Henry A. Griswold papers are a compilation of diaries, financial records, autograph albums, catalog, scrapbooks, a minute book, household receipt book, notes, instructions, and estate settlement papers which document farm life in White Hall, Greene County, Illinois after Griswold's father and uncle moved from Vermont in 1820 to establish a farm and wagon-making shop.  Materials are created by Griswold, his daughter Mamie E. Griswold, and additional family members.
