Scope and Contents Collection contains the letters of William A. Allen (1830-1891) written to his wife, Millicent Blanchard Allen (1838-1922), during his service during the American Civil War in the 9th Illinois Infantry Regiment in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. An assistant surgeon, Allen described camp life and medical care. Includes newsclippings, military papers and two musical scores.
