Typed transcript of diary kept by Mojonnier on the family's trip. Briefly details each day of their trip by stage, sleigh and train to Havre, France where they spent several days before sailing. On board ship he details the weather, any family problems, passenger problems, sea life they observe, a ship wreck and their entrance into the Mississippi with the help of a tug boat. He describes the boat they take to St. Louis and the sights he sees along the way.
